Privacy Policy

This policy explains what SlothTube (the Chrome extension and the website at slothtube.net) collects, why, and who else handles it. SlothTube is operated by İbrahim Çakır, an individual based in Türkiye ("we", "us"). Contact: support@slothtube.net.

What we collect

• Account data. When you sign in (with Google or email) our authentication provider, Clerk, gives us your user ID and email address, and may share your name and profile picture.
• Plan and payment status. Your plan (Free, Plus or Pro), credit balance, and the customer and subscription IDs Paddle assigns to you. We never see or store your card details.
• Your content in the app. The videos you open (video ID, title and channel name) for your History, notes you choose to save, and your AI Chat conversations, so you can continue where you left off.
• Browser storage. The extension stores your theme and interface language in your browser. Sign-in uses cookies set by Clerk.

What we do not store

Transcripts, summaries, channel analyses and translations are generated when you ask for them and are not stored on our servers. They are shown to you and discarded. Text you save as a note is kept, because you asked us to save it.

Who else handles your data

When you generate a transcript, summary, analysis, translation or chat answer, the extension reads the video ID, title and channel from the YouTube page you are on and sends your request to our server. To fulfil it we rely on these providers, who process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies:

• TranscriptAPI.com fetches a video's transcript and channel video lists.
• OpenAI generates summaries, analyses, translations and chat answers. The transcript text and your instructions for that request are sent to the model.
• Clerk handles sign-in and account management.
• Paddle is our Merchant of Record. It handles payments, taxes and invoices and is an independent controller of your payment data (Paddle's privacy notice).
• Contabo hosts our API server and Netlify hosts this website.

Why we use your data

To provide the service (sign-in, credits, generating results, showing your History and notes), to process your subscription, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and to answer your support requests. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Account, plan, History, notes and chat data are kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we will delete this data, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons (Paddle keeps its own billing records).

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Turkey's KVKK) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email support@slothtube.net and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

SlothTube is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will be announced on this website.
